A Little Inspiration at the Right Moment

I've gotten some bad news recently. It happens to the best of us from time to time, I suppose, but it did make me feel a little low. I think, though, that if there is ever a good time to hear it, the best time to get any bad news is during the Olympics. There are a million moments of inspiration every single day, both on the field of play and off. From incredible acts of perseverance met by incredible sportsmanship, to selfless acts that impart dignity, to finding the courage to carry on after a terrible mishap, to amazing wins eked out of nowhere, there is inspiration everywhere, never mind seeing the great performances of star athletes (Noelle Pikus-Place, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Meryl Davis and Charlie White, just to name a few), it's impossible not to be picked up and carried forward. Also, I now really wish I was a cross-country skier or a long-track speed skater (Perhaps random, but I think the perseverance necessary makes them some of the most inspiring of the Games. It probably also explains why I love long-distance running). I think it's that spirit that says that anything is possible, and that winning is not always the most important thing, that is the best part of the Olympics. I'm so looking forward to the last few days of competition, and I can't wait to see what inspiration they hold. The Games make me want to do better than ever even in my day-to-day life.
So onwards and upwards, as they say.
