{Thirteen in 2013} An Update

Somehow, 2013 is nearly half way over, and I thought I'd give you a little update on my Thirteen in 2013 list.  It's still definitely a work in progress, but I'm actually doing pretty well on it--even better than I think I thought I would!
1. Read a book just for fun every month. I've been surprised that I've managed to keep this up, even if it's been hard at times! (You can find my most recent book review, with links to all the others, here)
2. Take more pictures. I got a DSLR at the beginning of May, and I've been having fun playing with it and learning to use all the settings, so I've been taking all sorts of photographs!  Some favorites here.
3. Run a 5K and find the perfect time in my schedule to run at least three times a week.  I did run my first 5K this spring (and it felt so good!), but with my crazy schedule, it was hard to squeeze in a run consistently.  I actually just joined a gym this week, though, and now that my schedule is normal, I should have time to go at least that often.
6. Work on defining my style and branching out of my comfort zone. Unpacking actually helped me sort through my closet, and I was pleased with the things I have!  Defining my style has been a work in progress basically since day one of university, but I think I'm really starting to figure it out now.  Branching out of my comfort zone is another matter, but I'm honestly okay with that right now.
7. Visit the macaron seller at the farmers' market with my friends more often. I cannot tell you how much fun my last semester at school was because I made a point to do this with some of my very dear friends. Totally worth the occasional stress about deadlines. I needed that occasional break.
10. & 12. Blog regularly and grow my blog. Blogging has definitely become a big part of my life, and I'm proud of the way my little blog has grown a little bit bigger over the past few months.  Thank you all, dear readers!
11. Donate the things I haven't worn in a year.  When I moved home after graduation, the first thing I did before I even unpacked was clean my closet of most of things I hadn't taken with me to school.  It felt so good to get rid of the clutter, and hopefully those things are off to a better home now!
13. Visit at least one new place in town, and one new place in the wider world. This one was honestly my biggest and most important goal for 2013, and I'm glad to say it's progressing well.  I tried several new types of food in Houston (my favorites being Cuban and Korean), explored some gorgeous parks and interesting museums, and even made it a point to go into a few buildings on campus I had never been into before I left.  I went to New Orleans and Florida, both new places for me, in February, and I'll be moving to a brand new place in a few short months, not to mention seeing a few new places along the way.  I honestly can't wait!

Some of my goals have been a bit more challenging to meet, though. 4. Put at least $10 in saving every payday. 5. Be better at keeping in touch with friends who live far away. 8. Lose a few pounds! 9. Make champagne teas a monthly event with my friends. Saving on the short term has never been my strong point, and while I'm using Facebook Chat like never before, I wish I kept up with my friends better. Monthly teas are a noble, but hard, goal, and I'm still chasing away a few pounds--hopefully the renewed running regimen will help!
Tell me--did you make any goals for 2013? I'd love to know how it's going!
